*FA Women's Premier League Cup Final* *Leeds United Ladies v Arsenal Ladies* *Sunday 4th March 2007* *2.30pm KO* *Glandford Park, Scunthorpe United FC.*
Leeds United Ladies look forward to their second cup final in two years, but are hoping for different result to last year's FA Women's Cup Final against the same opposition Arsenal. Leeds entertained the media on Tuesday evening at their training ground at Knottingley HS where television crews and journalists interviewed players and management. Manager Julie Chipchase commented " We know it will be our toughest game of the season so far, we have to play to the best of our ability and ensure Arsenal don't play at their best, if we are to get a result on Sunday. It is difficult to compete with Arsenal, we don't have the same resources or finances as them. Arsenal will be expecting and expected to win it, but on the day it is a one off game and cup games have shown there can be upsets. We know we are the underdogs. We are a different side to last years FA Cup final, we have strengthened the squad since then, bringing in defenders Jess Wright, Carla Tompkins & Sophie Bradley and Midfielder Rachel McArthur, who was signed from Arsenal in the summer. Unfortunately New signing Amanda Barr is cup tied and wont be in the squad we have proved this season we can score goals from all over the pitch. The girls will remember how hurt they felt after the defeat and will not want it to happen a second time, we are better prepared. Team spirit is high in the squad and if they work hard for each other and play out of their skins we just may have a shock for everyone. We haven't played Arsenal since the FA cup final defeat, so it will be interesting to see how my team react to that. Everyone respects Arsenal, they have achieved so much over the years and look to continue, with them in the UEFA Cup final, I really do hope they go on to beat Umea IK". Leeds United Ladies Captain Natalie Preston added "The girls are up for the game, we felt humiliated after the result of the FA Cup final, so we wont allow that to happen again. Arsenal CAN be beaten we just need to make sure it is Leeds United Ladies that does that on Sunday. Arsenal do have their weaknesses and it's up to us to ensure we exploit them. Don't get me wrong, they are a great side and have deserved all their success they have had, but it is time for someone else to win a trophy and I want Leeds to be that team this Sunday. I hope the impartial fans will get behind us (Leeds) and be our 12 player with plenty of noise of support. *Tickets are available now priced £5 for Adults and £2.50 for concessions by contacting Scunthorpe United’s ticket office on 01724 848077. _______________________________________________ the Leeds List is an unmoderated mailing list and the list administrators accept no liability for the personal views and opinions of contributors.
