That's one take on it - Another would be: If my staff and I told my boss that with the resources available we would struggle to achieve the results he desired I'd reckon I'd done my job to the best of my ability. If my boss still failed to provide the resources needed then I would claim that it was he who was failing to do his job and therefore ensuring I was unable to do mine. If my boss then sacked me for failing to achieve his desired outcomes, I think I would rightly feel miffed and be attempting to claim compensation for breaking my newly signed contract. I would also be aware that my claim for compensation that would be reduced should I get another job before a settlement was reached.
