Perfect. Just perfect. You lot finally get rid of Tony Blair and now
you've got Ken Bates singing George W. Bush's tune: "Any time the going get's
tough just raise the terror level."

I always assumed Bush had naked pictures of Blair with a donkey that he
hauled out any time Blair said something sensible about Iraq (in
private)....what
pictures does Bush have of Bates doing what to whom (or what)?

So that's it then if you don't vote for Good Old Batesy your football
club will disappear. What absolute desperate tosh. Just on what does he
base this statement? If the CVA fails the club is handed back to the
administrators who either try to sell it to someone else who has a
proposal agreeable to the creditors to take it out of recievership or he
sells off its assets. Given that there are (to the public's knowledge)
already two other interested parties and God only knows how many others
lurking in the background, this will not happen. What Bates is failing
to say is that his proposal includes a derisory offer to creditors -
plus if he was transparent about his two biggest lenders he might get
somewhere. It's like trying to get a small child to take cough linctus.

Bates' people will not stop the Bates proposal, sensible creditors will.
That's why Bates has been ringing round every bugger on the list all
last week plus anyone who he thinks might try to influence the
decision.................

I'm off for a mint julip on the lawn this one just makes me howl with
laughter.

Bates issues stark warning

By Richard Sutcliffe

KEN BATES has warned Leeds United fans it is "unlikely" the club will
survive if creditors vote against his bid to buy back the club on Friday.

Leeds went into administration on May 4 amid debts of ?35m before almost
immediately being sold by the appointed administrators, KPMG, to a new
company headed by Bates.

The deal has to be approved at Friday's creditors' meeting when a
Company Voluntary Agreement will be voted on.

Leeds businessman Simon Morris has submitted plans for a ?10m takeover
but Bates remains hopeful the creditors will back his bid.

He said: "If they want a football club in Leeds they should make sure
they vote the right way. Otherwise, if the CVA fails, I can assure the
fans it is unlikely there will be a Leeds United Football Club. Remember
Accrington took 45 years to get back to League status from when they
went out.

"Hopefully, we can move forward and put the tribulations of the last
five to six years behind us and start again with an open and even
playing field so we can start getting the club back to where it belongs."

Lawrie Sanchez is expected to step up his attempts to sign striker David
Healy after being promised "significant funds" to spend this summer by
Fulham chairman Mohamed Al Fayed.

The 27-year-old has just 12 months remaining on his contract but any
deal cannot go through until after Friday's creditors' meeting.
