Indeed the Lards were a shadow of their normal selves, scoring goals and
winning matches with an abandon that hasn't been seen for years.

I would have posted to the list earlier, but the shame of that play-off
injury time miss that would have seen us to a penalty shootout was too
much - sorry lads ;)

As for losing to the girls - St. Jacques d'Ambur showed the way, gentlemanly
agreeing amongst ourselves to throw the game (without being too obvious) we
were wasting our time as they (the girls) raced into an unassailable 5-0
lead. Little did we know that there were 2 (uncapped) French national squad
members in the side. They eventually got beaten in the semi-final by a team
that went out to kick them off the pitch from the off.

I think Al & Matt (the keeper) along with Olivier from St. Jacques made it
through the night, accompanied by another bottle of whisky. I gave up at six
knowing we were up again at eight for the omelette chez Michel's. I don't
like rosé before breakfast as a rule, but by gum it washes your bread and
butter down.

Get yourselves there next year. If you can't wait that long, St. Jacques
tournament is in 10 days (23 June). Ryanair to Limoges or the train to
Clermont Ferrand should see you right.

Damian
