United prove big switch-off - plus TV fixtures
LEEDS UNITED have been snubbed by the televison schedulers after dropping into League One for the first time in their history. They are not involved in a single televised game during the first four months of next season. Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United have been pencilled in for three early appearances on Sky Sports - against West Bromwich Albion, Bristol City, and Stoke City - unless they manage to overturn their relegation to the Championship. The Blades are awaiting the verdict of an independent arbitration which could lead to West Ham going down instead. Home clubs in the Championship receive £60,000 for every live appearance on television and visiting clubs pocket £10,000. In League One and Two, the away clubs receive £10,000 but the home clubs receive £30,000. The League One derby between Doncaster and Huddersfield will be shown at 4.00pm on Sunday, October 14 and the Yorkshire derby between Hull City and Barnsley will be shown at 7.45pm on Monday, October 22. Hull are also in televised action at Blackpool on Monday September 3. Sheffield Wednesday's trip to Norwich on Saturday, September 29 will be shown live at 5.20pm as will the Carling Cup tie between Rotherham and Sheffield Wednesday at Millmoor on Thursday, August 16. _______________________________________________ the Leeds List is an unmoderated mailing list and the list administrators accept no liability for the personal views and opinions of contributors.
