Subject: [LU] Let's See what happens

I find it amazing that we have come to such blows about a situation
that we, at best, know very little about.

Some of us:- Betty & Rick for instance have a bit more of a line on
some of it, but nobody on the list has any more than an inkling of most
of it.
As for it being transparent, I think it better if whatever deals to be
done are done in private, there is more chance of a successful outcome.

Ken Bates is one of the dodgiest business men to have ever lived, if
half off what has been written is correct. He tried to pull a fast-one,
like he did 15 years ago at Chelsea, but failed this time. However I'm
sure he has a couple more tricks up his sleeve.

I don't see how we can go blaming the MPs, HMRC, FL, or anyone else who
challenged the CVA, the whole thing stank. Now some people on the list
thought that letting Ken get away with it was the best thing for Leeds
United over the next few week, and stuff everyone else.

The FL and the authorities only did what any reasonable bodies would
have done, and queried what was happening. It seems a bit hypocritical
to appeal to their reasonableness now, if we were quite prepared to back
Bates' con when we thought it might work.

Against that there are an equal number of us who would prefer to see
anyone in charge other than him, whatever the immediate consequences to
the club.

However, Despite the fact that he has no morals, Bates is a football
man. He has a history in football, and knows how football clubs work.
We don't know much about any of the other bidders, other than the fact
that they talk a good game. They might all have the same ethics as Ken.
The might be more interested in the property development side, we just
don't know.

I wouldn't put it past Batsey to win this bid anyway. The threat of
more disruption/court action, the fact that nobody else can see the
books, the influence of the supposed off shore creditors, the lack of
time for any other consortium to get their act together, and IMO the
questionable impartiality of KPMG all make Bates the favourite in my
book.

And just so that people know where my own sympathies lie: I think the
whole administration thing was a despicable ruse by Bates not to pay the
tax man. The club did not need to go into admin, he was trying to pull
a fast one. When it didn't work, there was no going back.

However, I would like to have seen the CVA approved, so that we could
get on with the football. My feeling now is that I would rather see
someone else get control who would give the creditors (especially the
small ones) a better deal, and regain some reputation and respect for
the club. If Bates does get back in, then lets get everything sorted
out quickly and get a team together that can get us out of the 3rd
division, and back up challenging for a place in the Premiership in a
couple of years.

KOT.
