The ongoing legal wrangling is causing extreme anxiety for me and amongst my fellow supporters, but key to this for us is the ability of Leeds United to field a football side come the start of the season. To do so the club needs to be able to buy and sell players. I understand that the club's ownership being resolved is the primary requirement to being granted the 'golden share' and thereby being part of the Football League and being able to sign and sell players. As the ownership is disputed currently the Football League cannot or will not grant the golden share to my club. However, I have read reports that in 'exceptional circumstances' clubs can trade and participate in the Football League without ownership being resolved and having the golden share. I have also seen that the Football League do not deem the current circumstances at the club being 'exceptional' and therefore will not allow the club to sign players. Quite frankly I am disgusted by the Football League's lack of action or leadership in this matter. What exactly would you deem 'exceptional' if not the very future of a club being in doubt? It is in everyone's interest, and yes that includes the Football League and it's other members, to have Leeds United playing next season but to do that we need to be able to buy and sell players. >From where I sit it seems that the real issue here is between HMRC and the Football League with respect to preferential creditors, and this might explain the lack of action on your behalf when it comes to my club. I am not happy to be collateral damage to your Mexican stand-off with the HMRC and/or your issues with our current owners. Could you please therefore explain what it would take for the current situation with Leeds United to be deemed by yourselves as 'exceptional' and why you will not allow the football club to properly prepare for next season by allowing it to sign players. Leeds United is a football club, it needs to play football in the Football League and you currently are the people preventing this from happening. I have sat watching events unfolding with despair but at no stage has anyone done anything for us, the fans - you seem too busy politicking to notice. I sincerely hope you don't require another jaunt to Portugal to play golf, I'm sorry I mean make a decision for myself and many thousands of other supporters currently relying on you.
