Probably "Abroad in Britain" by Jonathan Meades (of which there have  been 
several series), though it could be "Signs of the Times" by Nick Barker,  which 
was a very stylised programme about people's houses without narration -  just 
the owners' explanations of their homes. There was a very funny  follow-up 
called A to B about cars and their owners.
