The mighty Lards went 1-0 up in their first game with a fantastic free kick from their own half but were pegged back to 1-1 by the end of the game. In their second game they lost valiantly to a much better Darlington(?) side 3-0. One of the goals of the tournament was scored by Darlo for their third with a screamer passing over Dave Woolmer in goal when it was hit with pace from around 25 yards. My part in their second or should I say the feet of the Watford players who I was busy tripping over when I should have been flagging the scorer offside, shall not be mentioned in my autobiography if I ever get around to writing it.
The Lards finished with a plucky defeat of 2-0 by Tranmere and were the strongest team in their group (holding up all the others!). The downside is an early start (but probably not before 9am) in the Plate competition.
