The game was played in a Brightonesque ground, with absolutely bugger all segregation by the Police, but the Leeds fans segregated themselves behind the leeds goal and towards one end of the B&Q Shed. Plenty of Beer and Food and the Germans were good hosts.
The Team was more akin to what will start the season with Pruton, The Penguin, Thompson and Lewis in Midfield, with Fraser and I forget at full Backs and Rui and Heath in the middle. Up front we went double Donkey with Kandol and Beckford. Not sure who the goalie was or if we swapped him at half time, but he was pure unadulterated Pig Shyte and got worse.. Game Started brightly with Beckford shooting just wide and causing their keeper to make a save. In Midfield we looked solid if lacking in pace. As the 1st half worse on, we were getting caught for pace more and more and when Fraiser was left for dead a quick cross and 1-0 down. A few minutes later a free kick was given and the worst slowest weakest free kick in the history of football beat our apology for a goalkeeper. Second half we moved behind the other end reminiscent of Rugby League fans years ago.. The half kicked off and we seemed more up for it. Somehow The Penguin got sent off and no one noticed!!! Kandol controlled, yes I said KANDOL CONTROLLED a ball and dribbled yes I said KANDOL DIBBLED a ball and beat the two central defenders and scored a goal. I REPEAT KANDOL SCORED A GOAL. His celebrations were those of someone shocked he had controlled dribbled and scored, total shock! Que New Song.. Tresor Kandol, Scored a fucking Great Goal, in a Kraut Shithole, in a Kraut Shit hole... Then beckford broke through dribbling past the two central defenders only to be hacked down. The ref then gave a free kick and sent of Beckford. Why I have no idea at all. At this poin everyone realised we were down to 9 men and after much deliberation we worked out that The Penguin had been sent off earlier. Wise and Poyet went ape shit and it looked like they both got sent off, but about 10 mins later Wise reappeared, so perhaps there is a Sin Bin operating in Dessau. Duing the Wise/Poyet Row the team came off the pitch and when we restarted we had 6 players, as we had substituted 3 and then gradually we went back to 9 as the Subs were allowed on. Cottebus are a decent side and Leeds showed plenty of guts, but the lack of pace and lack of quality finishing gives me little hope for the season..
