interesting little piece in the ST Business section this weekend... Big picture of the Flower Power protest above an article by Ben Laurance about the general situation and a particularly bizarre sideshow. Leeds United AFC Ltd (the old Leeds company) was in legal dispute in Jersey (where else, eh?) with Admatch over monies from season ticket sales (not for the new season). Leeds United 2007 Ltd (our beloved new Leeds Utd company) apparently paid KPMG GBP150K for the non-footballing assets of the old club. These included leases and the rights to pursue old LUAFC debtors (including the alleged debtor Adwatch). So far so good. In pursuit of Adwatch, LUFC 2007 recently applied to the court in Jersey to be added as a plaintiff to the old LUAFC claim against Adwatch. Stop yawning, it gets interesting in a moment. Honest. On behalf of LUFC 2007 Ltd, director (and solicitor) Mark Taylor swore an affidavit on July 25th that he was still a director of LUAFC Ltd, the original plaintiff. At this point it emerged that Mr Taylor, along with the other directors of LUAFC Ltd, had resigned his position as director on May 4th when KPMG were appointed Administrators. When faced with the fact of his earlier resignation as a director, Mr Taylor said it was "simply a mistake" he had forgotten signing the resignation papers from the old company. I am surprised he manages to get dressed in the mornings if he can forget such a basic act, given his professional status and probable wide experience of wheeling and dealing in company directorships on his own part and that of his clients. As the patriarch of the Royle family might expound: Forgotten, my ar5e.
