Absolutely. But the club had to be purchased by somebody at that point
(second round of bidding) and each intersted party new about the FL's CVA
rule, hence the conditional and unconditional offers. Bates made an
unconditional offer and made it look like he was the only one willing to
take the risk of not getting the GS. THE question is "Was there really ever
any risk of the GS not being transferred?" I wonder... if the other bidders
had known the GS would be transferred in exhange for a 15 point penalty
would this have changed what they were willing to bid and their offer being
being unconditional instead of conditional? Of course it would have. Why
weren't KPMG making this '15 point deal' with the league prior to the second
bidding process? They were supposed to be the ones getting the best possible
deal for LUFC's long term future. They didn't do this.

I am relieved regarding the GS & whilst dissapointed I can fully understand
the 15 point penalty from the FL's view. They have to make it clear to other
clubs that there will be severe punishement if a club wants out of admin
without a CVA. 3 or even 6 points would not have been enough to stop some
sort of backlash from other clubs that would have been unhappy with us
getting the GS without a CVA.

Regardless of the outcome of the appeal, I just hope wise can steady the
ship this season. It won't be easy as the penalty will be a severe blow to
all the players. Hopefully Bates won't be around much longer than the 12
months he has to be.
