Exactly! And maybe they were prepared to 'write it off' or perhaps as for their investment they had the people running the club that they wanted. For whatever reason (no doubt bad/shady). Perhaps with Bates in charge they have something they wouldn't necessarily have had with anyone else? Maybe Kandol's dad owns Astor and Bates has promised to give him a game if he is in control - Kandol's dad knows noone else would!?
