Personally never have been a "fan" of Beckham, I have to admit he was superb in La Liga last season. He was also the only English player who gave a damn, that wonderful night in Belfast two years ago. Verner

He has played when injured thereby denyoing someone else a place and harming Englands chances, its down to him that the WAGS came about which did England harm. I dont know how you can argue his case. The man is totally selfish, Self above all is his motto and unfortubately there are enough worshipping at his feet to make him into a superstar that isnt. ----- Original Message ----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: [email protected] Sent: Saturday, September 08, 2007 4:24 AM Subject: Re: [LU] Beckham coming to Leeds Really, now. If a great military leader leads a crap army and that doesn't win a war does that mean the general wasn't a good leader...or does it mean the army was a crap army? Some round these parts have more than one. I think you're selling him a bit short. No...you're selling him a lot short. Without even considering his marketing prowess (and not just hers) but only his footballing skills, Beckham was a lot more than "a run of the mill prem player with one trick up his sleeve." Let's start with this question: which trick did you have in mind as his "one trick"? His dead ball striking ability? His crossing ability? His leadership ability? His work rate? You rag on him for having moved teams. Well, where does it say that a player must stay with only one team. Or is it just Scum they can't come from? I guess you'll have to cross Bremner off your list. What about the fact that the second team "that got rid of him" wanted him back after he'd signed? As for whether yanks would know what to do with a proper footballer I don't think there's much doubt that MLS is not on par with the Premiership -- and other than one or two teams not even the Championship. But the standard of play in MLS is DEFINITELY better than League One. And that leads us to this point: can you seriously, seriously maintain that David Beckham couldn't hold his own in League One. If you do neither I nor anyoneelse needs to spend a moment discrediting you -- you've done a plenty good job of it yourself. Michael Gardiner San Diego Whites "He is not a has-been.? He may not be what he once was, but he is by no means a has been." OH! really, Well there is more opinions on that, and mine is that he was NEVER anywhere as good as he was painted. buy for posh spice and her marketing expertise, he would have simply been a run of the mill prem player with one trick up his sleeve. he took all th credit for thebest team in the world which eventually got rid of him to another team that got rid of him and only the yanks would really want him buy of course they wanted aSHIRT SALESMAN, what the hell would they do with a proper footballer, assuming they could coax anybody other than an over the hill one such as fowler (who could never sell shirts either. > ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Thursday, September 06, 2007 8:00 PM Subject: Re: [LU] Beckham coming to Leeds > What this is about and whether it is remotely possible he'd come to Leeds > > are two entirely differen things. > > First, Beckham is presently injured and is unlikely to be close to?fit > > again until the last game or two of the MLS season by which time his LA > > Galaxy team is surely going to be well and truly out of it.?
