Oh my God, it's all my fault. I refer you to my message of August 30 (premonition or what): "I have to confess I think just about anyone would be better than Bates. Of course, having so boldly tempted fate, I fully expect news to start breaking about a takeover bid from a consortium led by Freddy Shepherd and financially backed by Margaret Thatcher and the Pinochet family (we are Leeds, so it can always get worse)."
