Re the de vries for heath sub... Was much needed. Just taking de vries off and not replacing him would have been an improvement!

I was even impressed with Wise \ Basset substitution bringing on Kandol to give us 3 big men up front to replace the rapidly fading and tiring Carole (who is needed for bigger things on Saturday) and even the desperate move of Heath for De Vries. At lot of the game was reminiscent of the Swindon game in the League Cup a few years ago ( 2 - 0 down back to 2 -2 with Robbo goal and then win on pens). A good sized crowd (a record for this comp) of nearly 19,000 were enthusiastic and loud and stayed 100% behind the team , just as it should be. Plenty of positives. Madden looked good, Parker is good enough for first team. Howson had his best game for us, Carole and Da Costa have that extra bit of class and Constantine got on the score sheet and hopefully will go on a good scoring run when he gets his chance. Negatives - defeat in a competition that we could have won to give us silverware and a trip to Wembley and secondly the fact that we can't defend at corners. Having seen it all on TV I agree their goal was over the line when Prutts hooked it back (noticed at time we did not complain so thought that was the case) and Da Costa kicked out when on the floor a definite red card. At the end of the day we gave 100% effort and commitment and had the ball in their half more in the second half than I have seen for ages, and it was (Prutts, Rui and Seb apart) our reserves. So back to the League and the important stuff on Saturday - "15 points who gives a ....."
