I feel a bit sorry for him here. Seen a couple of Fulham games and they've
played some decent footy, but have been cruely robbed of points in the
dying seconds of games. Essentially he built a squad carved out of
Championship and Premiership squad members. Asides the luck issue, he's a
squad that will struggle in the Prem but, if they stay together, do well
in the Championship (ala Watford). Which lead me to think ... Where do we
go from here?
I was absolutely delighted to hear Wise say he was aiming at 3 or 4 "Young
and Hungry" players in January, not 19 year old unprovens, but 23-25 years
old with experience. To me this is a superb sign that we're going in the
right direction. IF, and I really hope it is now WHEN, we go up, we have
to hit the ground running and, in order to avoid being a Fulham or
Watford, the buying policy has to be organised now. It's no use going up,
spending 2 months of the season getting the squad to really know each
other and then playing catch up. Now is the time to start building, start
to really build on what we currently have. The fanbase, the momentum. By
being forward thinking we could quite easily achieve another Man City and
go up twice in two seasons.
