Spot on. Addicted for a week checking out old school friends lives, laughing at
the extremely flattering photos of some of the more agricultural girls at work.
Poking celebrities only to be ignored... Then the novelty fades and I check
about once a week or update my status with something hilarious. That's it.

Hasn't ruined my life but I have found a few old friends that got lost in the
hurly burly of modern life.

Such a LOT of fuss about Facebook I've always thought, and the
evaluation is plain bonkers.

I did respond to the DELUGE of "invites" last summer and am on there,
but IMHO it has an initial novelty value but quite then quickly fades
away.

Completely disagree Mark, particularly the following snippet:
Why on God's earth would I need a computer to connect with the people
around me? Why should my relationships be mediated through the
imagination of a bunch of supergeeks in California? What was wrong with
the pub? (I particularly liked the last 5 words here ;-))

And does Facebook really connect people? Doesn't it rather disconnect
us, since instead of doing something enjoyable such as talking and
eating and dancing and drinking with my friends, I am merely sending
them little ungrammatical notes and amusing photos in cyberspace, while
chained to my desk? A friend of mine recently told me that he had spent
a Saturday night at home alone on Facebook, drinking at his desk. What a
gloomy image. Far from connecting us, Facebook actually isolates us at
our workstations.
