All of the Munich commemoration reminds me once again just how close we came to a similar tragedy at Stansted. It was bad enough losing to three goals from yer West Ham but to top off the evening with an emergency landing and evacuation and then having to get off the plane must have been chilling for our squad. I wonder if the plane had crashed that night, who (if anybody) would have been our Harry Gregg? Which of our team would have kicked their way out of a burning plane and then gone back in, repeatedly, to pull people out of the wreckage? That incident was the making of O'Leary (for a few years at least) to be the one chucking them out of the emergency exit, you can never get stronger bonding than that. But where was Georgeous Georgie while all this was happening? Well away from it all in Larndan, probably counting his shekels.
