Just to echo Joe's basic point - give yourselves plenty of time on Sunday. Was around that way on Sat (going to Lords to watch the rain) and Sunday at the conference play-off final. Sat - even at 10am - the tubes going North to Wembley were rammed - apparently Cardiff and Portsmouth had 10 designated pubs each in Wembley and people were getting there early. I didn't know there were that many pubs in Wembley - assume this is Wembley High Road which has always looked a bit sh*te when i've come in that way.
Sun - Despite the crowd being about half of next weeks - trains were still very busy up from Baker St and i'd recommend leaving at least 1 hour before KO if going that way, as it can take a fair while to get out of tube and up Wembley Way. After the game most Met lines trains were helpfully stopping at Baker St - which meant a full up trainload of people had to decamp across to the Circle line. If they repeat this trick next week when the circle line is closed it could be carnage. No doubt the Yorkshire folk coming down will avail themselves of the cheap drink in such places - I am dreading rioting over the perceived expensiveness of drinks on Sunday, should anyone go off piste. The M1 will be carnage.Amusing seeing loads of people I know that have suddenly developed an interest in football & Donny Rovers and have tickets! I am awaiting people asking if they can stay/park at mine. I'm not recommending pubs or areas to drink as someone will moan if they're 'crap'. Obvious tips are that most places don't have parking restrictions on Sundays or bank holidays. Stick to somewhere off the Met or Jubillee lines (purple or grey to you lot!) - e.g. West Hampsted or Finchley road, rather than the predictable (& crap) Baker Street. Those talking of getting to Watford after (for a 'quick' getaway to the M1) - the Met line isn't running to Watford - you'd have to get a replacement bus service from Northwood - and the tube is really slow unless you get the fast one (which is no good to you). District & circle lines also not running - so you'd have to get the Met line from KX, if using train. Obviously, drinking somewhere else more Northern may mean difficulty getting on if all the morons are drinking at Baker street or KX. _______________________________________________ the Leeds List is an unmoderated mailing list and the list administrators accept no liability for the personal views and opinions of contributors.
