According to Ken on the radio we are going to actually try in the various Cup competitions this coming season as opposed to last year when they were an unwelcome distraction. He did not have much else to say - they know who they are after and who they want to get rid of but keeping it all quiet. There are some outstanding youngsters coming through who Gary Mac will be wanting to give a chance to a la Howson. Said Becks got 20 goals last season this time he needs to get 25, Kandol got 10 why did he not get 20 ? (I know it was a rhetorical question but I am sure a few on here could tell him the answer to that one !) He said how much Johnson had improved and that we needed to get players who would not be phased by bigger crowds than 7 Prem teams get. Looking forward to Leics as being a "big club but not as big as Leeds" and who could get promoted with us. Said to forget last season and not rest on laurels - the team did very well with all upheaval of Wise and Poyet going and Gary Mac coming in plus 15 points. Said we needed to get 91 points again. Players coming back for pre season on 4th July and the first week would be very hard physically for them to get them fit for new season. Also questioned why some players who started the season so well fell away later on. So pretty much standard stuff - talking for 10 mins without really saying anything other than the fact that we will try in the Cups. (another trip to Wembley this time in Johnsons Paint would be nice I reckon) then go up as f***ing Champions.
