Gosh, fancy that: as soon as I concede Macca might not be the man for the job, Bates fires him. Perhaps I should suggest we might lower season ticket prices next year...
I'm rather sad - not so much that he's gone, but that it didn't work out. Macca got us playing good football, something I'd not seen for more than five years at Leeds. But although we are actually lucky right now not to be in the Premier League (the wage bills are too high and the sponsorship and corporate money is going to be non-existant for a couple of years while the recession winds on), the prospect of another season in Div.3 is appalling. Much as I have the fondest memories of his playing days and admire him both as a man and a football professional, we couldn't afford to lose yesterday - and we did. In a style the brings the management of the team into question. Sorry, Macca. Thanks for everything, and I hope it works out for you. -------------------- Richard Young Freelance writer and editor _______________________________________________ the Leeds List is an unmoderated mailing list and the list administrators accept no liability for the personal views and opinions of contributors.
