Not that fussed by Pietersen or Moores going in itself, more the general chaos
this is likely to cause.

Not clear whether Pietersen will goto the WIndies now and though we should beat
them anyway, it's much harder without the best batsmen.

I suspect he'll now be sorely tempted to take the money from a full IPL season
and hence wont be available for England in May time, will the ECB then feel
compelled to leave him out for the Ashes ?

Someone needs to patch up the ructions with the team pretty quickly - i might
pack the pads for Barbados just in case :)

I'm not sure this is a bad thing at all.

Pietersen said when he took the job that if it didn't
work out he'd happily go back to the ranks - maybe we
thought it might have lasted longer than 3 Tests, but
if him going and forcing Moores out had to happen (and
Moores record doesn't merit continuing with him,
without taking into account certain player
dissatisfaction with his methods - not just KP),
better it does so now than in June.

Strauss (who should have got the job in 06 instead of
Flintoff anyway) gets to start with a clean slate and
won't get blamed for initial under-achievement due to
the turmoil that led to his appointment in the first
place.

He's probably the only player capable of mediating
between the split factions in the dressing room and
getting everyone to perform to their ability.

He also did the job well in 2006 v Pakistan and
improved his own batting form at the same time.

Cheers,

Al
