I've always said that our squad lacks quality. I agree that all the back 4 and the keeper could / should be replaced ? But you do have to wonder about Rui and Lubo - we have seen them both play well at higher levels ?
I don't think you can start with a midfield with Hughes and Douglas though and expect to create chances. For me I'm still hoping for a Delph / Howson central midfield pairing but until we have a rock solid defence this can't / won't happen. I also agree with your comments about Johnson - he has become a better player in the fans view by not playing and my view has always been that he lacks the quality, but the one thing that surprised me yesterday was that he did look slimmer and he did look fitter. Admittedly he only came on for the last 20 mins but he really gave it a go which led me to think that maybe a central midfield role may suit ? It's got to be worrh a go. Also the keeper - the Carlisle keeper was arguable man of the match (I went for Kavanagh). He was very commanding. I know he's on his way back to Newcastle at some point but surely an enquiry has to be worthwhile ? --- On Sun, 11/1/09, DAVID NATTAN <[email protected]> wrote: > From: DAVID NATTAN <[email protected]> > Subject: [LU] Carlisle & Rich W team > To: "list leedslist" <[email protected]> > Cc: "Richard Walker" <[email protected]> > Date: Sunday, 11 January, 2009, 11:15 AM > to me it shows how poor our squad really is.
