I agree that Becchio is limited as a player - his first touch is often terrible and he has not scored m(any) what could be classed as 'good quality' goals BUT all goals count the same and he has certainly got the knack of winning headers at the far post and scoring a reasonable ratio of them. I am amazed at the hero status he seems to have amongst many fans who prefer him to Beckford. I always like players who put the effort in as he clearly does but not at the expense of class. I think that if we go up his limitations may well count against him and he may find himself permamnatly on the bench and leaving in January for a 3rd Division club where he will score a decent amount for the 'back-up striker'. I reckon 12 league goals and 15 in all is a decent return for the second striker but would not be enough if he was the main man (Beckford) Yes, we could and should have put them to the sword second half, but I think that we lost concentration and commitment and they decided that they would not lie down and die (probably coupled with a hard done by feeling over the sending off !) In some ways the second half did take the gloss off the first half where we played very well and tore them apart - we were miles the better team even when they had all eleven, but now I think I can look back and see that we won all 3 points and that is all that counts Dave

I bet you didn't think you'd have to nearly wait until April to see him doing it though given he'd scored 6 when we took the bet on ? Listening to the game on YR Eddie Gray kept saying the game was over in the first half and a real chance to improve our goal difference. Either Eddie is losing it a bit or is forgetting our history. There was nothing more certain than Crewe coming back in to this game and my only surprise was that they didn't get the equaliser in injury time.
