Hmmm, a drinking etiquette angle eh Gaffer?!?!? Well, generally I consider
the following to be correct:

Football Season: Generally Bitter with Guinness allowed if you start off
feeling bloated or have a hangover, but only for a maximum of two rounds.
During December through to end of Feb, stronger winter ales, occasionally
leaning into Dark Belgian beers in front of a roaring fire is acceptable.
Red wine OK for poncey dinner parties, but only when mixed with beer and
finished off with spirits. Lager only allowed immediately following five a
side football or other strenuous activity (Well you can't smoke indoors
anymore so a can of chilled Stella after sex should surely be the
replacement!!!!!)

Non Footy season, Lighter beers or, if extremely hot lager or cider (For
old times sake the two together with a dash of blackcurrent should be
encouraged!). However Cider is the BBQ must have, nicely chilled but not
with any bloody poncey ice in, it just waters it doen and is for girls.
White wine is an absolute no go, unless the host has run out of anything
else alcoholic, including his selection of out of date Chocolate liquers
from the previous Christmas. As it is a British summer, hand pulled ales
are still a perfectly acceptable option but have to be drunk in the beer
garden, even if it is only 5 degreed centigrade!

If I get to power, that will be law! ;-)
