Don't get me started on this one! This may shock the likes of Betty
but the main reason behind this decline was an act brought in by the
Tories in about '89 intended to help. Essentially it gave all the
power to greedy PubCo's who just strangled the chance of making a
decent living out of hard working tenants. Having to buy your beer at
over inflated prices as part of the lease through them, increasing
rental prices well over inflationary levels and if they didn't
survive? Who gives a toss, the greedy bastards don't care about the
pub and it's role in British society when they are sat on some prime
land that they can land £1m per plot selling on to one of many cowboy
building firms to throw up as many badly built cardboard boxes to sell
at ridiculously over inflated prices.
Then there's the greedy fcuking supermarket chains, then the righteous
keep your fcuking nose out anti smoking brigade then the ...
