As a chiropractor having treated many professional sports people and disc
problems over many years, I believe that Naylor should have no problem
recovering from what appears to be a straight forward prolapsed lumbar disc
problem. Modern disc surgery is keyhole surgery and quite straight forward
and recovery time especially in a well-trained professional athlete like
Naylor should see him match fit within 6-8 weeks depending on how long it
takes to get his cardio/stamina up to match level, i.e. nothing to do with
his back. If this is not his first back operation or the situation is more
complicated, then obviously recovery may not be so straight forward. Rehab /
core stability training will be the key to his recovery. Many other
footballers have fully recovered from similar situations quickly and
smoothly i.e. John Terry a couple of years ago who was playing I think
approx 3-4 weeks post-surgery!! (his op was in the middle of the season when
he would have already been match fit.)
If we don't see him in the reserves until October, I would be concerned that
there may be something else going on.

Subject: Re: [LU] Bromby \ Naylor
Now that teh subject has come up. I was alarmed at a professional athlete
having a back operation & expecting to recover.
Anyone with more knowledge like to comment?

Various sources are saying we have agreed a fee with Sheff U to sign
Leigh
Bromby (deal may be in doubt due to his pesonal terms)
Eveything I have read about Bromby says that he is a central defender -
does this mean that Naylor is more injured than we thought ?
We have brought in Kisnorbo who turned down Champ teams to come here and
has looked very good, so his place in the team looks assured. Then Naylor
is
to come back which makes them the first choice pairing with Rui (and Lubo
and Huntington) as back up. Ok we would ship out Lubo and Hunts if we
could,
but it still leaves Bromby on the bench and Rui nowhere unless there are
fears over Naylors future ?
Big test for us tomorrow - Colchester are no mugs and whilst we are solid
at home, last season our away from was shaky at times to say the least -
and
wins over Walsall and Wycombe though very welcome may not be a true test.
