Yes that is what I was thinking of . And yes I think it was meant ironically. But isn't it inscribed on most war memorials? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ed Morrish" <[email protected]>

'to die for ones country is both fitting and honorable

If you're thinking of "dulce et decorum est pro patria mori", then I'm pretty sure Owen meant that ironically.

Rob, I think you've confused "poppy facism", where to non-wearing of a poppy is considered unpatriotic, with "communal respect", where once a year a minute's silence is held. Easily done.

I totally agree with Pete (even if he does support Melbourne) I wear a poppy with pride not to celebrate war but to remember / honor the poor sods who died or were conned by, I don't remember the latin but look at your local war memorial, 'to die for ones country is both fitting and honorable

Hope not! I would be proud of any Leeds fans who made a stand against all the ridiculous poppy fascism which consumes this country every November.

What?!?!

I generally let most of the posts here that annoy me go thru to the keeper, but this one Rob is "almost" offensive. Im an ex soldier, my granfathers and father all served in either WWI or WWII - against FACISM - not that they were fighting a name, but I digress

Im extremely honoured to have a Rememberance day and in Australia an Anzac Day, to celebrate the efforts of the folks who shaped the countries I live(d) in

Maybe you disagree, which is your right, but surely for something as sensitive as this you could always just STFU
