I must admit that I am a fence sitter as far as Beckford is concerned, I
neither love him nor hate him.
One thing I am sure about though is that any striker that scores 20+ goals a
season is doing the job he is paid to do. Over the last two seasons, and
particularly this season, Beckford has contributed to the position we find
ourselves in now, as have most of the current squad, and we can see light at
the end of the tunnel. The timing of his transfer request is irrelevant, as
there has been speculation over him leaving all season, and at this level we
will easily find an equivalent replacement.
Obviously the anti-Beckford brigade will give him stick, but I would like to
see him take to the field on Saturday to a standing ovation and pro Beckford
chants as a thank you for his services so far, and who knows in the future
too, however long that may be, - but I know that won't happen.
