Was another memorable night for Leeds fans all over the world, and especially
for those of us abroad, as opportunities to see Leeds live are few and far
between! (although saying that, at the moment, seems like we are on all the
time! LOL!)
Watching in the pub in Sydney with 25 other Leeds fans at a very unsociable
4.15am (who am I kidding, this is Leeds, at 4.15 we were all still VERY
sociable!), singing Leeds songs throughout at the top of our lungs, going
mental at the goals, and for the second time in a month, remembering what it
feels like to be on top of the footballing world for a change!
There were four very confused Spurs fans in the pub, who will not forget us in
a hurry. We never stopped singing, and there was a lot of banter at them,
including a rousing rendition of "Where's your foreskin gone?" (which got some
big grins from them) to "WE'RE NOT FAMOUS ANYMORE!" Which totally threw them.
"FREGIE TIME!" as the extra time board went up, and to knick a "Fergie goal" in
the dying seconds, well, it was as ecstatic a moment as it was improbable.
Further highlights: Casper's save of the penno and other world class saves. Man
of the Match for me. Revie was supersticious, I reckon Grayson is more into
Vodoo, as Casper looked hexed. His eyes had the look of a man that was
possessed. He might have been reading the various Leeds forums over the week
and gotten tired of all the flack he is given. Come on lads- look at Casper. He
is a pretty damn good keeper, and deserves some credit.
Danny Rose getting no respect, on the pitch or off it. What a waste of talent,
to forgoe first team football, just to play in the Spur's reserves. Hopefully a
lesson learnt to other youngsters, although not as bad a Tiawo or Woods' fates.
Paddy. Headband. Thunder, and lightning. This guy is a rock. World Cup bound?
Surely?!
Replay! Probably the best result for us! A win would have been good, but
another packed Elland Road, TV money, and a chance for more of the part-timers
to hopefully see what they have been missing and maybe change their minds about
showing up to ER so infrequantly. Win lose or draw in the replay, we win on so
many levels! And an evening kick off there means breakfast and Leeds at the pub
for me here in Sydney!!
ON ON ON!
And enjoyed the list as usual for a good Monday morning break from work:
Great match report from David Nattan again!
>From Jim Moran: "This is what football is about. Small moments of glory
>amongst vastswathes of pain and misery. The sooner you work that out, the more
>you enjoy these small momentsof glory. The last time we did anything like this
>was when we punched above our weight in the champions league. Give me today
>over being fucking Burnley, Bolton, Wigan or Hull anyday of the week."
Matt to Dr. Mike: "These aggressive tendencies. have you considered seeing a
psychiatrist???"
Loved hearing all the experiences around the globe from Wiggy and the DC Lads,
Michael in Dallas, etc, and Dr. Mike seems to have his happy hat on now! ;)
