Erm, didn't the Met Office recently take a lot of flak in Copenhagen for errors made in it's record keeping and analysis. It has also been announced recently that the BBC is ditching the Met Office in favour of an organisation in New Zealand that can offer better predictions on UK weather. If that isn't a damning indictment then I don't know what is.

Rich, you've just underlined my first point. The Met Office, with all its
equipment, all its staff, all its experience, is still making educated
guesses at tomorrow's weather. What does that say about our understanding of
the atmosphere?

My head is firmly looking up at the sky. Climate Change is a media scare
story that hinges on the believable, easy metaphor of "the greenhouse
effect". There are huge parallels with MMR. How many of you fell for that
one?.
