To the comments below, spot-on. The Beckford I watch is always pulling to the
flanks, darting through the middle, looking for the ball, and all with
pace...believe me as someone who played CHalf for a good few years, that's the
kind of bugger that's hard to play against.

Becchio had a good game last night, by Becchio's standards, and was probably
worth the goal - good bit of poaching - but if you're marking someone like him
you can either sit in really tight and make every touch he wins a battle, or
you can sit a couple of strides off because half the time the ball will bounce
off, and if it doesn't, he hasn't got the pace/control to go by you. Much
easier.

My Dad, came to Saturday's game - he doesn't get to many these days and so
doesn't know many of the players - and asked me after 70 minutes or so, "why
are they always singing Becchio's name. I've only seen him do one of three
things; lose the ball; fall over; or complain to the referee."

MOTM last night? Caspar by a country mile - without him it would have been 6 or
7.

Actually got to the point of feeling sorry for Hughes last night - never a good
sign. Bromby is no right back either.

--------------

I agree that Bechio's work rate last night was colossal but do not let that
blind you to the effort put in by Beckford. He was always available in the
second half to receive a long ball on either wing and the half way line and
to receive a short pass on the edges of both penalty areas. If the passing
had been more accurate then he would have been noticed more. He never
stopped moving. This is "work-rate"
and
"commitment" by any standard.
