Just shows how much better we are off (materially) nowadays, but I doubt if
it gives a real comparison for Transfer fees as they have increased quicker
than RPI, earnings or GDP. If we knew the highest and average transfer fees
and other stuff from around those times we could give a better comparison.

Don't have all that, but simplistically and just comparing the Transfer Fee
Records of the time, For Harold The highest fee in 49 was £26,500, so Harold
@ 12500 was about 47% of that , so one could say the comparative figure now
is £37.6 million.

For King John, the 62 figure was £65,0000 I think, when the record was
£115,000,(56%), in today's Terms £45.6M.

His 57 Transfer was also £65,000, but was the highest amount in that year,
so equivalent to £80Million and he was better looking than Christiano
Ronaldo.

Whatever you do don't tell Harold how much he "should" have been earning to
match 47% of the current highest earners - it'd do for him. :)
