The Leeds United representative team in Dubai made a big impression on the
opening day of our involvement in the Emirates Airlines Dubai Sevens on
Friday.

The day started with a 1-1 draw against AC Milan before Glasgow Celtic were
beaten 4-1 in the second group game.

The final game of the day produced a 1-1 draw with Danish side Brondby and
the young United side have progressed through to the KO stages of the
tournament after finishing top of the group.

Academy manager Neil Thompson, under-18s coach Neil Redfearn, and technical
director Gwyn Williams, have travelled with the party, and Thompson says the
trip so-far has been both productive and enjoyable.

"It's been great so far," said Neil.

"The facilities here are terrific and we trained a couple of times before
Friday in very hot conditions.

"The standard is good and after drawing with Milan this morning we played
really well against Celtic in the afternoon.

"It was the hottest part of the day - 33 degrees - but the boys did well and
we've done well so far."
