We need to win and Boro not win for us to retain our title in the last game of season. So far Boro are one nil down away at Bradford and we are 2 -0 up. Very few if any prospective first teamers in the starting XI - Rui, White, Kandol all starting but none really in Graysons plans, so the only one likely to even make the bench on Saturday is Mike Grella - and he is doing well , scored the first when he flicked the ball over the head of a defender and controlled it well before hitting a volley with the outside of his foot past the keeper. He then beat a couple of defenders and drew the keeper before pulling it back to Kandol who hit it home from the edge of the 6 yd box. Not long after that it was nearly 3 when a deep cross by Grella was met by Kandol but his header was well saved. We are pretty much in control with Grella and Kandol causing them problems but they not had a shot on traget or chance worthy of the name yet. Rui is very comfortable at the back alongside a trailist who has barely touched it - so hard to assess. Kandols goal was his 9th in 9 games - he is wasting what (little) talent he has -- he really needs to move away from Elland Road. White has hurt his elbow and then got a big nose bleed so has been in the wars but bar one good run has done little. Alan Martin is from the Casper school of kicking - twice under no pressure he has kicked into touch. Hard to know from watching resereves whether the likes of Hatfield or the Turner twins will ever make it. Grella has been man of the match in the first half and he really does have something but at times he still looks lightwieght and either overplays it or makes the wrong decision too often. If he is not in the starting eleven next year (with Somma back with a contract extension) we really need to send him out on loan and let him get a few proper matches under his belt. Anyway second half now beckons Dave _______________________________________________ the Leeds List is an unmoderated mailing list and the list administrators accept no liability for the personal views and opinions of contributors.
