For me it has to be the abject misery of returning from Wembley where we had
been beaten by Doncaster Rovers in the play off final.

We had battled through the adversity of the points deduction, the almost
constant reminders by the press of how far we had fallen and the desertion by
Wise and Poyet. We had taken all that and made it to Wembley, even after
stuttering against Carlisle and we let ourselves believe that we might just win
and get promoted.

Then in classic LUFC fashion we failed by losing to Rovers. I only had one
previous encounter with Rovers and that was back in the 80s when Leeds did them
a favour by bringing a few thousand to Belle Vue in a pre season friendly.

Some Leeds fans did them another favour by re-arranging one of their stands
during a pitched battle which ran the length of the terracing down the far
touchline. It was more entertaining than the game which I believe we won 1-0
courtesy of a Mark Gavin (?) goal. Then at Wembley I had barely left the
escalator when the misery of the taunts from the Huddersfield Town and Bradford
City fans started.

Living in Dirty Dewsbury unfortunately I know quite a few of these throwbacks.
In the end I turned my phone off and travelled home in silence back up the M1.

Without doubt, and I posted at the time saying exactly this (A point
picked up on by SG not long after as he used it as ammo against the team),
the pathetic 2-0 midweek defeat at Hereford last season.
Forget all the Premier League stuff, all the high profile losses etc. That
one game was the lowest point of my whole Leeds United Supporting life.
Bar None. Yes Sunderland '73 still haunts me, Yes Paris '75 was a
travesty, Yes ALL those cup finals and 2nd places throughout the years are
still ingrained in my psyche as painful experiences ... But painful
experiences when we were in with a shout of something, we were winners, we
were acheiving.
Hereford '09 was a rank 3rd division club with no ambition and no real
hope. Undoubtedly the lowest of the low.
