Tabloids, don'tcha just love 'em.

They've found out/guessed/had the nod that the deal was "worth £1m". It's
a 3-year contract. So divide £1m by 150 weeks and you get £6,666. Near
enough £7k for a tabloid sports sub.

I'd guess it was more like £5k a week (about par for a championship
striker), with a 25% signing-on fee in lieu of a transfer fee to Swindon. So
£250k up front.

The key word is "package"

>>Leeds United, who agreed a £7,000-a-week package to sign out-of-contract
Swindon striker Billy Paynter, 26, on a three-year deal on Wednesday night,
are also keen on defender David Wright, 30, who was released by Ipswich.<<
