Bookies odds are based on the amount of money wagered on a particular event (the liability) more than the likelihood of it happening. Take for instance the current outright world cup betting where England are 10/1 USA are 40/1 and Slovenia are 200/1 yet the latter pair are more 'likely' to qualify for the next round. Cheers Paul
