I still love him............................. "*Even Paul Gascoigne's agent has admitted he has been left "speechless" by the former star's latest bizarre behaviour: turning up to the police stand-off with Raoul Moat claiming to be the fugitive's friend and offering to supply him with a can of lager, a fishing rod and a dressing gown.*
Informed of the news, Gascoigne's agent Kenny Shepherd said: "He's doing what? I am sitting having an evening meal in Mallorca. I'm speechless." The police refused to let the former footballer through their cordon to speak to Moat after finally cornering the former Newcastle bouncer in the village of Rothbury. They dismissed Gascoigne's claim that he was a close friend of the accused killer - who later committed suicide. Described as 'clearly inebriated' by Sky News, Gascoigne told a radio station that he had brought Moat "a can of lager, some chicken, a mobile phone and something to keep warm". He then later told reporters: "I didn't come here for a publicity stunt. I was sitting in the house with nothing to do and I felt sorry for him. I got in a taxi and went to stay in a B&B. "All I have to do is walk through the moors shouting, 'Moaty it's Gazza.' Someone has given him drugs and made him like that. I'll speak to him - I am a good friend of his. I've known him for years. I'd like him to talk to me one to one. If he goes to jail, I'll go to jail and visit him a couple of times a month." "I have brought him a fishing rod. I'm risking my life to make sure he's alright." Moat shot himself in the early hours of Saturday morning."
