                "SOCIALISTS WORKING TOGETHER
THE EXPERIENCE OF THE SCOTTISH SOCIALIST PARTY"

                FEATURING PAM CURRIE
                Scottish Socialist Party

Europe has experienced a series of electoral alliances by Socialist groups,
from a range of backgrounds and traditions. From France, Portugal to recent
initiatives by the London Socialist Alliance, such initiatives have
provided a new dynamic to the organised far left in these countries. The
Scottish Socialist Party (SSP) could be credited with leading this trend.
Born in October 1998 from a two and a half year project which went under
the umbrella of the Scottish Socialist Alliance, it has proved to be an
inspiring example for the left internationally. Since its formation the SSP
has not restricted itself to parliamentary politics, though in this it has
experienced its share of success, but has also led a range of struggles
including fighting the Criminal Justice Act and providing solidarity for
the Liverpool dockers.
