Dear Comrades

I have several friends who are interested in starting up a reading group on
Karl Marx's CAPITAL. We are all women, have been around left political
circles for a long time but do not belong to any political party.

I am posting this proposal to see if there are any interested people out
there in the left who would be interested in joining a small reading/study
group.

Initial thoughts for a reading/study group are:

Chapter 1, Sections 1 - 4,
"Capital: Critique of Political Economy".

The basic ideas and concepts of "Capital" are introduced in this first
chapter. Depending on the level of interest, we could either move further
into "Capital" and study it at greater depth;

OR

we could study the development of capitalism as described by Marx in the
"Communist Manifesto".

The future direction of the reading group would have to be planned out from
there, but it would be good to see how what we read in "Capital" helps us
understand the changes that are taking place in the economic and political
spheres today.

Therefore we could look at globalisation and its impacts; and the
anti-capitalist movement which has developed in response.

If you are female or male; socialist, anarchist or other; and are
interested, or would like more details, please email me I will get back to you.
