Flo Russell, long time political activist who joined the Communist Party of Australia in the 1930s and was later elected to the central committee in the 1950s, who was also a founding member of the Communist Party of Australia (Marxist Leninist), has died in Melbourne in March 2002, aged 91 years.
On Saturday 1 June at 12 noon we will scatter Flo's ashes on the Yarra Bank at Speakers Corner. Afterwards, please join us for a bite to eat or a coffee at the Botannical Gardens, another of Flo's favourite places. The Yarra Bank area where Speakers Corner used to be is next to the recently opened Birrarung Marr Park, on what was Batman Avenue. It is on the north bank of the Yarra and to the west of the Rod Laver arena. It is very different now because of all the redevelopment down there and the Exhibition Street Extension. Please see Melways Map 2F K6 or UBD Map 253 L16. Failing that give either Maureen (9663 9439) Maree (9687 7686) or Mick (9478 4526) a ring. Hope to see you then, where all Flo's family, friends and comrades can give her a big farewell. -- Leftlink - Australia's Broad Left Mailing List mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Archived at http://www.cat.org.au/lists/leftlink/ Sponsored by Melbourne's New International Bookshop Subscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?Body=subscribe%20leftlink Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?Body=unsubscribe%20leftlink
