Australia Asia Workers Links Workshop Strong Unions - Safe Jobs
Workers in Indonesia Australia Asia Worker Links (AAWL) is an organisation that has been building links with unions and workers' organisations in the Asia Pacific region for 24 years. It provides information and training on a range of issues, including occupational health and safety. AAWL is running a free workshop at the Victorian Trades Hall Council on July 19th from 11am to 3pm. The workshop, Strong Unions - Safe Jobs will be on the development of international solidarity, and how to improve workers' health and safety across languages and cultures. Among the speakers will be Cathy Butcher, the OHS Co-ordinator of the VTHC OHS Unit and Gwynnyth Evans, the OHS Officer with the Meat Industry Employees' Union (AMIEU). Both Cathy and Gwynnyth have had many years of experience in occupational health and safety.
