Hi Bill, Your not alone, I rarely get a response to any of my emails. They have lost several sales from me because I decided to make my own replacement parts and accessories after countless email inquiries went un-answered. It makes me wonder if I'm in the spam list or ignored on purpose. It's always been said if you need a answer, call and talk to them. Is that an option for you?
Magnate is fabulous. They are fast to reply to all emails. They even call if they have any questions, or don't feel like typing long emails. I have never had a bad customer service issue with them. Yes, this forum is the missing manual, and the missing support. It's a shame it's even needed. I am very grateful for the past support of others here, and really admire the direction you are going with your machine and the mods you have done. At least we can support each other as long as interest in the equipment exist. Maybe your Bitchy message might get some attention. There are two suggestions. The first is to sharpen the blade. If it is a little dull, it may cut without burning but will cause enough pressure to push the wood away. If your blade is sharp and the bowing is occurring, you will need a center support to give the material the ability to stand up to the force of the cut. Have a look at what I did for a very extreme barley. http://www.turningaround.org/HollowSpiral.htm Good luck and let us know what you find out. The turnings start out fine and continue about 6 inches; however, after that flats start showing up. What is causing the flats?
