I found the machine first and had never seen one until I went to the
Legacy website. I found the group after trying to engage in
conversation with Legacy on a few questions. I got virtually nothing
from that other than it is easier to learn the CNC. I took the
savings on the asking price of the mill and invested in several sets
of bits from magnate. I have so far been able to cut a smooth round
after finding a tip on you tube to set the bit 1/2 off center and slow
my speed rate to 1/8 inch per rotation. What I am having trouble with
is utilizing the template follower and cutting from the side. I am
getting a lot of tool marks and have found no simple tips for
preventing this problem. I cut with a 1 inch straght bit which had
terrible results. I then center the short vertical cut of the flat
cut bit used to plunge from the top and ran it slow in the x axis, I
got better results and cleaned up some of the tool marks but still had
to sand lighter tool marks out on the lathe. I would think that if I
could cut from the side I could better utilize the mill especially in
a situation where I had tapers going in seperate directions. Any
suggestions would be appreciated.
