Hello All, A while back we where talking about the golden ratio. I'm not a math guy and will never pretend to be, but I do calculate all sorts of little things as I manual layout designs in my cad program.
I was creating a sine wave pattern that wrapped around a circle and l noticed to make this pattern it takes two diameters of circles to make the pattern. The valley of the wave has a greater diameter than the peak of the wave. Originally I thought they where equal, this is not the case. The amusing part is if you divide the inner diameter by the outer diameter, you get 1.618. I recognized the number as being really familiar. I Googled the number and got a good laugh from the results. Some call it PHI, but it's better known as the Golden Ratio! No wonder the sine wave is so visually pleasing :-). I'm kicking myself for not paying attention in middle school math! -Tim --
