I cant believe that only 68 people have watched your video (crank indexing ), 
that means only one or two other people besides me has watched it. ;-)

I guess you can tell by my statement, that I really like the video Thank you 
very much for making it and sharing it with us Mike.
Now on to the questions, Why modify your router bit? isn't there a side cutting 
bit on the market that would cut the same depth that you need? and if not 
couldn't you cut form the top with the same results?
