Hi Curt
Are these wedges the frozen ones they sell in the supermarkets that come in
various flavours and even with the peel left on sometimes?

Hello Guys.
Don't forget wedges would also work. It may be old school, but... they are easy
to use and very low profile.
No mater how you clamp the work down, the peg board design is a good one, that
we too can use on our machines as well.
Have a good day.

I agree mac but it could be modified perhaps to use a cap screw like the
legacy ones do. its a place to start anyway

  Bill,

Nice find. They should work well on a "Vertical vise" - however, if used in
a "Horizontal vise" the tightening knob(s) are (will be) in the way. As the
author states, the entire clamp (knob included) must be low profile. If you
were using this clamp on a "perforated table" (like a Festool one) you would
not need the knob. Just construct it more like the aluminum ones you saw in
use milling the Mantle Clock on the Mini Arty - the cam action sort of locks it
in the hole while pinching the workpiece at the same time. You might try using
a carriage bolt and have the "head" topside - with its length being sufficient
to pass through the piece serving as the cam as well as through the bench top.
(You'd want the "pivot dowel" to be a snug fit in the bench top holes for this
to work well.

  Mac

    That's it.

    Awesome!

    Thanks Bill

Its KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) low profile, solid, clean lines... I like
IT!

Now all we need to do is find the horizontal one wood vice.. (which is even
more simple.) I'm talking the one with the pegs and cam clamp. Not the self
stick tape. (Note the self stick tape works well for Tracy, But in the North,
the cold temperatures make self stick tape some what dangerous, because the glue
doesn't stick well when its cold.which for me is appx. 7/ 8 months a year.)

    Have a good night .

    C.A.G.

P.S. its -10 deg. F.(that -23.333C. for you Bill.) outside as we speak,
Its a good night to sit by warm fire.and read a book.;-)

      Thanks Tim.

Begat, I'm sorry, Tim is correct I was talking about the manual line, The
video of the minni arty has the wooden version in it,( Which I think is much
better any ways.) Sometimes is goes to show, You can make something better by
hand, than spending good money in the quest of a better tool. ;-)

Roger. Thank you. for the video link.

No I think Curt meant Legacy dropped the Vertical and Horizontal vises
available for the manual machines.

Hello Everyone, I was asked about the Legacy's virtical vice, sadly
thay no longer sell one, but on the CNC fourm thay show this vice, made out of
partical board. on the video just about the 4.20 min. mark, you can see Tracy
puting in onto the CNC unit. The vice is realy nice. and I belive would work
better then the Alum. one that Legacy use to sell.

Let me know what you think about it?

          C.A.G.
