Hi Guys

Now you see it, and now you won’t because we have had a change of plan and the
Simplicity is no more.

So here is the story behind the Simplicity. Once upon a time a nice man called
Andy Anderson built a machine called the Explorer which did what the guys in
Europe wanted and at a price that we thought our market could afford and would
want, and which the US market loves. You just cannot beat made in USA or
Europe, where people build quality.

So we have the machine but then we came upon the problem that Bill in Australia
sees all the time, the cost of shipping.

If you take the US factory price of $4,500.00, forget any show specials there
might be around, then people in the UK would expect to typically pay £4,500.00
which equates to $7,200.00 and within that it should include Shipping, Value
Added Tax @ 20% and Import Duty at 3%. In passing please note that we pay VAT &
Import Duty on the cost of shipping. So for me to make a small profit I need to
sell it at £4,750.00 or $7,600.00.

In the UK typically people see a $US price and think same price but in £UK and
that is some uplift.

At those prices it would be a hard sell because we have the cheap Chinese
machines with much lower specifications, smaller machining areas, and lower
build quality and a lack of engineering knowledge with little or no support
selling for a lower price. My experience of buying from Chinese sources is that
once you have bought the goods you are on your own. That comment is based on
hard experience.

In the UK potential hobbyist and to a lesser extent small business customers
are not really up to speed yet on what to look for in a CNC. Result is that the
cheap machines can play the smoke and mirrors game.

So given our price problem Andy came up with the revised base that you see in
the Simplicity. Wayne “Crafty” Mack has a machine that Andy built for him,
Wayne’s machine has a smaller work area because his retail workshop area is
much reduced whilst I have a standard Explorer with its base and a Simplicity
base as well.

The benefit of the Simplicity was that we could build the base here in UK and
import the Explorer gantries and see lower shipping costs and so end use price
would improve.

However Legacy are facing a similar problem in the USA in that shipping charges
are going sky high so Andy has revisited the way they are shipped and decided
to ship the Explorer in two boxes instead of one crate. That change makes for
significant savings on shipping and so they get passed on to the customer and
everyone has the same machine. So the Simplicity is no more and the Explorer is
numero uno!

Regards

Roger

Bill the cost of shipping an Explorer in two boxes at 73 kilos volume charges
are estimated at $576.10 to the airport in Melbourne, equivalent volumetric
weight is 161 pounds. If shipped in a crate the weight is 280 pounds, buy two
or three machines packed on a skid in two box configuration and you save even
more.

Hello Roger
It looks weird to me. Is there a table and a X axis? all that I see is an Z
axis and a Y axis. Is there any way to do turning on this machin, or is it
just for flat work?
I wish you guys luck on this venture.

Hi Curt
This is a new machine that we are launching to compete with these plastic
squirting lasers. Instead of melting plastic this machine squirts sawdust
mixed with a fast setting glue, first units ship April 1st.

Roger

What in the world is that? it looks like a laser printer with-out the paper.

Roger has been holding back a little or I just happened to catch this while
he is still developing his site. I'm assuming this was developed as a European
model that can be shipped mostly flat to avoid higher shipping costs. What's
the story Rodger?
